Saves a copy of the drawing in the format currently in use.

Tip: Note that if a drawing with a .Vec extension is loaded, it can only be saved in lcd or DXF format.

AutoSave and backup

Every new LiteCAD.exe drawing has the extension .lcd (LiteCAD.exe native file format).  When LiteCAD.exe saves or closes a drawing in lcd format, a backup copy of the file is saved with the extension .bak.

If your computer crashes for any reason, additional automatic backup files are normally stored in the My Documents>LiteCAD.exe>Drawings folder as$.

If for some reason you need to access backup files, both the backup (.bak) and AutoSave files (.lc$) files need to be renamed from$ to a name such as Recovered.lcd  in order for the backup copy to be worked on.

Good working practice

Your CAD drawings are a valuable store of information and need to be protected.

We like to create a folder called Jobs in the My Documents folder and then sub folders for each calendar year and then each job is filed in a folder named after the street address. For example, a job carried out in 2013 at an address 75 James Street, in a suburb called Paradise would be filed in Jobs>2013>75JamesParadise.

Any new symbols and blocks created that are not part of LiteCAD.exe are stored in a Blocks folder at the top level of the Jobs folder

Backing up data is then quite straightforward - the Jobs folder is copied to a backup device. We suggest that you use a cloud storage system and put a copy there as a further precaution. Google + has an excellent free system while SugarSync offers an excellent commercial cloud service.
